I have this strong light source within this glass dish. Strangely the light and color of the light is not impacting the ground plate very much. There is even a dark shadow around the dish. I tried it with translucent plastic as well, which illuminates but doesn’t give any light to the ground. I tried various path settings, etc. I want the ground plate to be brightly lit, but even cranking up the light intensity would just turn the light white but not really impact the surroundings much. Any thoughts? Thank you.
What kind of light did you use? It looks like an emissive which is nice of LEDs and such but less suitable for a bigger surface like this I think. You can try to edit the material and change the emissive to for example ‘point light’ or ‘area light’.
Thank you for the suggestion. I used emissive but also tried area light. So far I have not used point light but will give it a try. Tx
If you want you may also share the scene via wetransfer.com for example so people can have a try. It might help as well to lift the dish a little bit from the ground plane. Sometimes it causes weird shadows if that are really close to another.
You could change the IOR value of the glass material. This should effect the shadow.
